Concept

Proceduroll is a form of Interactive Music, wherein the music is directly influenced by the actions of the performer. The music is all pre-composed, but the order in which the music is played is determined by a dice throw. For sections of this piece, the player is given six different options per bar of music (roughly every four seconds). The results of a dice throw decides which of the six options they will play. There are three instruments in this piece, and each one has their own set of options determined by their own dice throws, resulting in three bars of music being picked out of eighteen different options every four seconds. This means there are millions of variations to this piece, and no two performances will ever be quite the same.

Concept

Depicting Humour is a form of Interactive Music, wherein the music is directly influenced by the actions of the performer. The pitch and the duration of the notes are pre-composed, but everything else is left up to the choices of the performers. Dynamics, tone, timbre, articulation, and voicing is left up to the two musicians. They also have the option to take repeats and codas multiple times, or ignore them completely, meaning that while the bass player may be playing bar four, the alto saxophone may be playing bar twenty-four. This lends the piece to having multiple variations not only in feel due to different musical choices by the musicians, but also differences in the length of the piece. This piece has dozens of possible variations, and lends itself to being shaped by the personalities of the musicians playing it.

However, this piece in its current state is difficult to sight read.
